OP EDs are 750-word opinion pieces that appear opposite the Editorial page in newspapers and online sites. Winslow served as Commentary Editor of the nonprofit, nonpartisan RAND Corporation from 2010 through January 2013 and continues to write OP EDs with Dr. Harold Brown, RAND Trustee Emeritus, former Secretary of Defense, and 20-year member of the Defense Policy Board that advises the sitting Secretary of Defense. She worked with researchers, former diplomats, and former cabinet officers at RAND to help them translate their research and ideas into journalism.
OP ED editors of mainstream newspapers receive 500 unsolicited OP EDs per day. Winslow’s relationship with opinion editors of major newspapers and magazines enabled her to write, pitch, and place 98% of all pieces she wrote for RAND and other clients. She can usually achieve an editor’s decision within a day. Winslow worked with authors on the following OP EDs, then pitched and placed them in mainstream media.
